The Good Food Box Program is a recipient of the 2022 Food Security Fund from the The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB)!

The Food Security Fund is a TBDSSAB initiative under the Homelessness Prevention Program that aims to provide financial support to food security initiatives in the District of Thunder Bay that help address and prevent homelessness.

This testimonial from a recipient of the Good Lunch Kit, a GFB-OKC collaboration, highlights the importance of food security:

The Good Lunch Kit from OKC (and the Good Food Box Program) has made it so that
I don’t have to choose between paying my bills and feeding my child. It has meant that
he has snacks for his lunch and better options for his meal during the day. When we
saw the Peaches this month he actually cried because he was so excited, that’s a treat
that we don’t often get. Every month has something special in the lunch kit that makes
him do a little happy dance. It also makes him feel like he fits in better at school in his
classroom because he gets special things like the other kids do. Thank you for these
good lunch kits, wholeheartedly, they mean so much to our family.
